Since its inception in 2021, the UBL has seen continuous growth. La Trobe University, The University of Melbourne, University of the Sunshine Coast, The University of Sydney, University of Technology Sydney, The University of Western Australia, and Victoria University formed the founding universities. Subsequently, Curtin University, Federation University Australia, RMIT University, and The University of Adelaide joined in 2022, followed by the inclusion of the University of Tasmania and Australian Catholic University in 2023.

UniSport CEO Mark Sinderberry underscores the league's expansion, expressing enthusiasm about the addition of a third New South Wales-based university in 2024. He anticipates witnessing the ongoing development of the league and the 2024 season serving as a platform for students to passionately represent their universities on the national stage.

The 2024 UBL season is set to kick off on March 18, featuring 126 home and away games played over seven weeks. The season will culminate in the finals series and grand finals on May 29, 2024. Stay tuned as we eagerly anticipate the release of the detailed schedule for the 2024 UBL. We can't wait to see our basketball club out there on the big stage!
