Four teams of 16 players total will compete for UNSW at the 3x3 basketball Uni Nationals starting Wednesday.

Known as the 3x3 Big Hustle Uni, the tournament takes place in Tasmania’s capital with UNSW entering a men’s and women’s team in each of the two divisions.

Following the debut of 3x3 basketball at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, this year marks the fourth edition of the Big Hustle Uni. The shorter format will also replace five-a-side basketball at this year’s Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

UNSW’s women’s team are this year hoping to secure the gold medal they were denied by Monash University in 2021 defeated by five points in the Final.

The Women’s A team is a new-look four to the group that finished second last year, with UNSW Basketball club president Ella Pinkerton the sole remaining member.

Twin sister and vice president Josie - who played last year - will coach both the female and male squads in Hobart. Matthew Overton-Clarke returns as the one remaining member of last year’s men’s team.
